The Story

Created by an indigenous Indian woman of the Panamanian Embera tribe, this basket involves many months of work. The weaving technique used is mastered only by the women of the tribe. To make these piece of art, the women bring together their superior technical skills with a high degree of artistic flair and creativity. The Embera Indians live in the Darien rainforest, in the north of Panama.

The Craftsmanship

Hosig Di Baskets are made from the black palm common in Panama. The Embera men harvest the palm, which they fray and dye with local, natural dyes. Then the women design and create the masks, inspired by the living environment around them, in the Darien jungle, in the north of Panama. These baskets are so tightly woven that they do not let water or light through. Unique work of art.
