This just goes to show the threat to artisanal craftsmanship, Verreries de Masnières French crystal manufacture, with nearly 200 years of history, have filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday, October 14 2014.
The crystal manufacture was specialized in manufacturing high-range perfume and cosmetics bottles with LVMH, Yves Rocher or L’Oréal as main customers, and a decor dedicated subsidiary, where bottles are silk-screened.
A competitive glass market, customers who drives the prices down, in a time of economic crisis, a declining turnover, and fixed costs… It’s almost 500 employment about to be lost.
